The British State Run & State Controlled broadcaster BBC has been caught passing off an old photo from Iraq in 2003 for the massacre in the Syrian town of Houla.

.

In a report published hours after the massacre, the network used an old photo of dead Iraqi children taken in Al Mussayyib that was first published over nine years ago and presented it as a photo of victims of the recent massacre of civilians in the town of Houla in western Syria, The Telegraph reported.

The photo shows a child jumping over the dead bodies of hundreds of Iraqi children who have been transferred from a mass grave to be identified.

Britain’s state-funded news network later published the same story with a new photo showing a UN observer looking at the bodies of the Houla victims.

The photographer who took the original picture, Marco Di Lauro, posted on his Facebook page, “Somebody is using my images as a propaganda against the Syrian government to prove the massacre.”

The head of the UN observer mission in Syria, Major General Robert Mood, said during a briefing via videoconference to the UN Security Council that UN observers in Houla estimate that 108 people were killed, including 49 children and 34 women.

The UN Security Council condemned the violence in Houla during an emergency meeting on Sunday, saying the clashes “involved a series of government artillery and tank shelling on a residential neighborhood.”

However, Syrian Ambassador to the UN Bashar Ja’afari censured the “tsunami of lies” by some members of the Security Council and said Syrian forces were not to blame for the violence.

The clashes between Syrian forces and armed groups broke out despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 12.

The ceasefire is part of a six-point peace plan presented by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan in March.

Member of the Iranian Majlis (Parliament) presiding board says any form of cooperation with Western countries and media networks in various fields amounts to espionage.
.
.
Mohsen Kouhkan added on Friday that spy activities by the UK and other Western states are not limited to a single method and cover a wide spectrum of economic, cultural, social and even charity and relief activities.

“Due to open political atmosphere in Iran, it is our natural and inalienable right to find and stop any person who wants to do anything against the interests of the sacred establishment of the Islamic Republic and pass information to spy networks under the guise of reporter or another cover,” he told Majlis news agency, ICANA.

The lawmaker said the State-Funded BBC is 100 percent under the control of the British government and even in the recent unrest in London it did not give coverage to street protests in the manner independent media did.

On September 20, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry arrested members of an illegal network charged with feeding the UK information under the guise of working for the state-run BBC.

According to an Iranian Intelligence Ministry statement, the members of the network provided the BBC with propaganda subjects to be exploited in psychological warfare by the enemies of Iran and Islam.

The statement added that the members of the network, some of whom have been arrested, carried out anti-Iran missions commissioned by the BBC through illegal underground activities in return for massive sums of money.

Iran’s Intelligence Minister Haidar Moslehi says the British intelligence service used the BBC as a cover for its anti-Iranian activities.

.

Moslehi told IRNA on Sunday that the intervention of the Intelligence Ministry and the arrest of those cooperating with the BBC were aimed at preventing others from falling into the trap of the British spy agency.

The Iranian minister said that the arrests were made as quickly as possible and marked the beginning of the intelligence ministry’s involvement in this case. He warned that his ministry would act decisively and unrelentlessly.

“While claiming to be an independent media they try to use the support of the US and UK governments and international organizations to obstruct Iran [‘s path].”

Moslehi warned those planning to or cooperating with the“ anti-Iranian and counterrevolutionary organization” not to fall for its appearance or slogans.
